Let’s all bake, eat and talk about cake!

It’s Wednesday and that can only mean one thing; Bake Off!

So if you’re like us and have cancelled all your plans this evening in favour of staying in and  drooling in front of the television, here’s a little something to sink your teeth into – an exclusive  recipe from Clandestine Cake Club: A Year of Cake  ,  the second  mouth-watering recipe book from the country’s favourite cake club, publishing on September 10th!

How it all began by  Lynn Hill, founder of The Clandestine Cake Club:

“Bake, eat and talk about cake. A very simple concept, I thought. I was struck by the popularity of Supper Clubs, those secret dining societies that have been popping up all over the world. Wanting to put a twist on the idea, I started my own Secret Tea Room in my living room, which quickly became a great success. But never being one to stop at a good thing, I soon thought of a way to take it even further — why not have a secret gathering, completely about cake, where amateur bakers can come together without a whiff of competition, each bringing a creative, delicious cake inspired by an imaginative event theme, to share with other like-minded cake-lovers? I thought how fun it would be to change the location each time, not letting anyone know where it would be taking place until the very last minute (that’s the ‘Clandestine’ bit!). The only rules: no cupcakes (after all, a small cake’s no good for sharing); no brownies, cookies or pies.”
