Eighty years on, Churchill’s Few: The Battle of Britain tells the dramatic story, in their own words, of five brave young men who fought in the skies to prevent Hitler’s invasion of Britain.

From Sergeant Pilot Cyril Bamberger, who rose from humble origins to win a Distinguished Flying Cross, to Joseph Slagowski, one of a small number of heroic Polish pilots whose contributions remain scandalously undervalued; Bob Doe, one of Britain’s most successful fighter aces; former Daily Telegraph journalist Geoffrey Myers and Geoffrey Page, who became a founding member of the legendary Guinea Pig Club. Fighting his own battle on the German side was Ulrich Steinhilper, who was eventually captured over Kent and evaded British and Canadian prison camp guards five times. This unique and moving book sheds light on the enduring marks one momentous battle made on these six young pilots, and on history, forever.
