2. What I’d like to find under the tree this year…

Sparkles, Chanel and silky pyjamas: three Bookends favourites let us in on what they’ve been asking Santa for this Christmas…

Emma Hannigan

I prefer giving gifts rather than receiving them. I also prefer other people’s birthdays to my own! But if I had a gun held to my head and was forced to choose something, it would be clothing. I am a total magpie when it comes to clothes, so I am always delighted with anything sparkly. If my husband wins the lottery I’d love a Chanel suit. (The black bouclé one with shimmery threading through it and a matching diamond ring.) Failing that I’d settle a long sleeved black sequins dress from Top Shop! I’m not psychic but I reckon I have more hope of getting the latter!

Emma’s latest novel HEART OF WINTER is available to buy now in paperback and e-book.

No doubt I will be disappointed in my annual hope that someone will give me a typewriter that only ever produces fluently brilliant prose. Instead I hope to find stationery, one of those gorgeous hardback versions of Penguin Classics, the new Rosamund Lupton, anything from Origins or perhaps a Lumie alarm clock to make me slightly better at getting up during the rest of winter. And of course chocolate Santas. You can never get enough of them.

Katie’s debut novel, MY EVERYTHING, is available to buy now in paperback and e-book.

Nicola Doherty

This year, I’d love to be able to watch UnREAL, a series set behind the scenes of a reality romance show, which has had rave reviews. But since it’s not streaming yet in the UK, I’d ‘settle’ for a pair of silk pyjamas. Maybe Santa will be reading this? (Hint: Jigsaw and The White Company both have lovely ones …)

Nicola’s latest book GIRLS ON TOUR is available to buy now in paperback and e-book.
