Team Bookends Go-To Christmas Film
Now we’re fully into December it’s completely acceptable to watch as many Christmas films as possible! Find out what some of Team Bookends favourite Christmas films are…
Aimee
Favourite Christmas movie has to be Home Alone. What better way to celebrate is there than with a child accidentally abandoned by his parents and with a lust for violence? Watching Home Alone back as an adult is so disconcerting – I find myself siding with the villains and counting how many times each of the criminals would have died if this story played out in real life.
On a lighter note, Home Alone possibly has the best soundtrack of any Christmas film. Carol of the Bells, O Holy Night and Jingle Bell Rock all feature. What other Christmas film can claim that?

Although I love The Holiday and grew up watching The Santa Claus every year religiously, my all time fave has to be Love Actually – Emma Thompson is my spirit animal, Bill Nighy is perfection, there can be no arguments here. When I was living in America away from home I watched it 8 times in the build up to Christmas because I was so excited to go home!

This is definitely in the “comfort viewing” category, but I completely love The Holiday: so cheesy, zero chemistry between Kate Winslet and Jack Black, Jude Law is an Editor?! Come on… But still, if it’s on I will always watch it, and always get a bit teary when the old guy gets his award.
Also, Sound of Music. Always and forever.

The Holiday. Always. I’ve actually lost track of how many times I’ve seen this film. Everything about it is excellent – the cute little cottage in the countryside (although how she deals with that commute every day is beyond me) Jude Law is an absolute delight, the kids are adorable, the music is great. Excuse me while I go and watch it for the 12164th time…
