Bookends Festive Q&A: Episode 4!

Welcome back our festive book friends! The festivities continue this week as we ask two of our lovely authors what Christmas tradition they look forward to the most each year. Take a look at their answer below!

Joanna Boluri – What’s the Christmas tradition you most look forward to each year?

Eating obviously but I always look forward to the games we end up playing. We’ve covered everything from Pie Face to Who Am I? and last year my sister introduced us to the greatest game ever, Pakkeleg.  It’s like a Danish Secret Santa dice game but everyone fights over the gifts and it’s so much fun. Google it immediately.

Lizzie O’Hagan – What’s the Christmas tradition you most look forward to each year?

The tradition I most look forward to in recent years, is playing a boardgame with my family with a glass of red wine in one hand, a Quality Street in the other (country fudge please) and the Christmas tree lights sparkling in the background. My little sister endured years of wanting to play games as a family whilst the rest of us were happy to just open our presents and watch Christmas TV but as I’ve got older, I’ve discovered there’s something so special about switching off all the distractions and concentrating on one thing together. Last year’s new game was ‘Pandemic’ (I kid you not) and I actually bailed on a night out with friends because we were getting so close to ‘beating the board’ that my mum cracked out the champagne. I’m pleased to say we were victorious (but the government haven’t asked us for help yet).
