Team Bookends favourite Independent bookshops

To celebrate #IndieBookshopWeek this week we’re heading out to our favourite indie bookshops and picking up some fun new reads! Here are Team Bookends top independent bookshops and what books we will be buying:

Lipfon (Quercus)

My favourite indie bookshop is The Little Apple Bookshop in York. I was always so enticed by the window when I used to pass the bookshop as a child and going inside feels like such a warm and welcoming space where you’re guaranteed to find your next read. I’ll be going in a few weeks and I’ll be picking up Book Lovers by Emily Henry – I’ve had my eye on it for a while and it sounds like the perfect summer read!

Ellie (Quercus)

Herne Hill Books! The sister bookshop to Clapham Books, this tiny store is nestled by Herne Hill station, just across the road from Brockwell Park. Pick up a new book, grab yourself an ice cream at Minus 12 degrees then go sit in the park and enjoy!

I’ll be picking up Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason, which I seem to be the only person not to have read yet…

My favourite bookshop to visit is Broadway Books in Broadway Market, it’s the perfect place to stop off on a walk to the park and comes with a staff who have excellent recommendations! This summer I’ll be picking up Still Life by Sarah Winman as I have been waiting so long to read it, and keeping hearing such good things.

My choice is Book Stop in Tavistock, Devon.

It’s a quaint little independent bookshop in a small town filled with cobbled streets and fairy lights. Inside is packed to the brim with all kinds of books, floor to ceiling, spanning two floors. It’s an easy one to get lost in, with really kind and helpful staff. I highly recommend if you’re ever in the South West!

The book I’m excited to pick up there this week: It All Comes Down To This, Therese Anne Fowler

Laura (Hodder)

My favourite local bookshop is Sevenoaks Bookshop, it’s a gorgeous (and award winning) magical place with lovely booksellers. It’s always top of my list to visit when I’m in Sevenoaks. This week I’ll be picking up Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, it’s about time I see what all the hype is about!
