The Bookends Picnic 2020 | Which books are on your reading list this summer?

This summer, we’ve got some of our favourite authors together to share their 2020 summer reading essentials – from what books they’ll be reading this summer to their dream holiday location.

Today we’re talking to Jill Mansell, Linda Green and Sophie Claire about what books are on their reading lists this summer.

Jill Mansell, author of It Started with a Secret

I’m bursting to read Lisa Jewell’s new psychological thriller, Invisible Girl – I’ve always loved her books and her writing style just draws me in each time. Endlessly twisty and entertaining.

V for Victory by Lissa Evans continues the story of Vee and Noel, two characters so brilliantly brought to life in Crooked Heart. It’s again set during World War 2, and I know I’ll be enthralled and delighted by their further adventures. Lissa’s dry humour makes her books a joy to read.

Linda Green, author of One Moment

I’m currently reading Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce, who is one of my favourite authors. And looking forward to All My Lies Are True (a sequel of the excellent The Ice Cream Girls) by Dorothy Koomson, Set My Heart to Five by Simon Stephenson and The Silent Treatment by Abbie Greaves.

Sophie Claire, author of A Forget-Me-Not Summer

I’m currently reading Escape to the French Farmhouse by Jo Thomas which is set on a lavender farm in Provence and features lots of delicious food – it ticks all the boxes for me. Next I’m planning to read Kate Field’s latest book, A Dozen Second Chances, which looks really good, and I recently finished The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver, which I adored.
