The Bookends Picnic 2020 | If you could go on holiday with one of your characters, who would it be and where would you go?

Have you ever wondered what an author actually thinks of its characters and who they would spend time with? This week as part of The Bookends Picnic, Sophie Clare, Linda Green and Sarah Steele share with us which of their characters they would go on holiday with and where!

Sophie Claire, author of A Forget-me-not Summer

This is cheating slightly, but I think Smoke the dalmatian in THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY would love a little holiday. I’d take him to Northumberland and I know he’d love the gorgeous beaches as much as I do – miles of sand for him to run along!

Linda Green, author of One Moment

It would have to be Kaz from One Moment, because she’s never been on holiday before and has never even been outside Yorkshire, so it would be lovely to be with someone who would truly appreciate it (besides which she has a great sense of humour and is an absolute breath of fresh air). I’d take her to Sennen Cove, near Land’s End in Cornwall, because it’s one of my favourite places in England, and pretty much as far west as you can go. I like to think we’d plan a road trip to John O’Groats while we were there.

Sarah Steele, author of The Missing Pieces of Nancy Moon

I love all the characters in Nancy Moon, but there are some it would be impossible to travel with! I’m a sucker for a European art gallery, so I might invite Peter along as my guide. As long as he can get the cricket scores, he won’t mind too much where we go, and I’m sure can be persuaded to tag along on a trip to Florence.
